Description

As subsea construction depths are increasing up to 3000 msw, the problems of precision and safe placement with a reasonable amount of time as well as support vessel cost are becoming major limiting factors, to which this concept offers a solution. The DSC will be designed to handle equipment up to 15x15x30 ft size and loads up to 300 tonnes. The DSC is designed to work down to 3300 msw water depth and is suspended from a fully passive/active heave compensated steel cable. Position and heading control are fully automatic. The DSC is a standard platform to which various tools can be attached enabling the DSC to perform a large number of different tasks. The ROV/load handling is based on skidable handling tower, provided with heavy load active damped cursor/garage system. This novel technique will omit the requirement of guide wires or additional cranes, which allows for the use of smaller, faster and non-specialized vessels.
