The use of carbon steel in the offshore pipeline industry shows limitations as the water depth increases. In particular increased weight of suspended flow lines during installation, riser top tension requirement, corrosion and fatigue resistance are limiting factors for the use of steel in deeper water environments. The purpose of the project is to develop and qualify composite solutions for deep/ultra deep offshore risers and flow lines. The study will focus on sub sea injection and production pipelines. In particular, a global approach based on target price, including all steps from manufacturing to installation and in-service inspection will be performed to achieve cost effective, reliable and flexible solutions.
