Advanced Composite Repair Tooling for Wind Turbine Blade Maintenance:

Within this project, novel adapted tooling will be developed, complying with wind turbine specificities and requirements (easily mounted, lightweight, fast and robust equipment, conceived to be served by non specialists), in order to improve both the in situ and workshop performance of the surface preparation and the hot bonding of composite repairs on wind turbine blades, comprising in:
- Replacement of the current abrasion systems, such as orbital sander or radial sander to remove
damaged layers, with specifically designed mechanical tools and new laser systems.
- Controlling and optimization of the cure cycles of the epoxy resin used during repair operations.
- Simplification of the currently used heating and vacuum systems.
