Laser Processing and Manufacturing for high Efficiency and thin Silicon Solar Cells:

The project will lead to the development of a prototype-machine permitting the implementation of laser tools in the next generation solar cell processing namely thin industrial cells with selective emitter regions with rear surface passivation by a dielectric and local BSF.

The requirements of this industrial tool will permit to decrease the cost of ownership in production and the thickness of the cell: the overall goal being to increase the cell efficiency. These results will be achieved by the consortium through different laser processing steps (ablation, doping and sintering).
