Brussels, BE – October 19, 2010 – Eurogia+, the Eureka low-carbon energy technology cluster, and Tubitak, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, held an information day in Istanbul.

“During the information day, companies, research universities and independent research organizations learned how to submit projects for funding consideration by Eurogia+ and Tubitak”, said Gabriel Marquette, chairman of the board of Eurogia+.
A Tubitak spokesperson said, “Tubitak is pleased to join with other Eurogia+ supporting countries to sponsor and fund collaborative research into the development of clean energy technologies”.

The information day, which was held at Teknokent ITU, Istanbul , and featured presentations by Tubitak and Eurogia+ representatives.  During the session participants learned about research areas of interest, sources of funding available, potential partners for transnational research projects and the process for submitting successful proposals.

Tupras, a large Turkish crude oil refiner, which has joined the Eurogia+ board of directors, discussed  their research goals and objectives and their hope to engage Turkish universities and SMEs in the Eurogia+ collaborative research model.

Eurogia+ will open a call for new transnational research projects in early 2011.  Participants in the Turkish Information day learned how do develop successful consortiums and submitting winning proposals.

Eurogia+ is an international industrial forum promoting technology development and innovative application through collaborative projects to provide the world clean, safe, available and affordable energy.

Tubitak is responsible for promoting, developing, organizing, conducting and coordinating research and development in line with Turkish national targets and priorities.
